Vendor Recipes That Sell

the Barrens, Ashenvale, the capitals / level 15 and up / patterns and recipes / alone

Kalldan Felmoon stands above the Wailing Caverns and sells thread and dye to leatherworkers. He also keeps two copies each of two Deviate Scale patterns, and when they're sold it takes him three hours to find more. I sat down beside him to wait for the next lot, fell asleep in the sun, and woke up while a druid was paying for all four.

Why it pays

Some vendors sell a pattern or a recipe in short supply. Our data marks these as limited: the vendor holds one or two, and once they're gone the next ones take an hour or more. The vendor's price is fixed and small. On the auction house the same pattern costs what a leatherworker or an alchemist will pay to skip the ride and the wait, and that's many times more. You don't need the profession to buy one.

The dearest of them is Pattern: Barbaric Bracers. Saenorion in Darnassus and Joseph Moore in Undercity sell it for 20s, one at a time, back after an hour, and today it fetches price unknown. The bracers have their own page under crafting.

What you need

Less than a gold for everything on this page and a character of about level 15 to ride across The Barrens. The Alliance also gets Pattern: Herbalist's Gloves, which no vendor in our data sells to the Horde.

Where

How

1. Ride to Kalldan Felmoon at 46, 36 in the Barrens, above the Wailing Caverns. The Horde flies to the Crossroads and rides south-west, the Alliance flies to Ratchet and rides west.
2. Buy both copies of Pattern: Deviate Scale Cloak at 5s 50c and both of Pattern: Deviate Scale Gloves at 15s. Those are the vendor's prices.
3. Come back after three hours, or whenever the road takes you past.
4. In your capital, look in at the alchemist for Recipe: Free Action Potion at 18s: Kor'geld in Orgrimmar, Soolie Berryfizz in Ironforge, Ulthir in Darnassus.
5. On the Alliance side, Harlown Darkweave in Ashenvale sells the Herbalist's Gloves pattern for 18s.
6. Post one of each on the auction house and keep the rest in the bank. When one sells, post the next.

What can go wrong

Other people know these vendors. On the beta players stood beside the bracers vendor and waited, and a pattern that comes back once an hour goes to whoever stands closest. Most of these sell a few times a day on a market, so a bank full of them is too many. The beta's prices came from players with beta gold. At launch nobody has money, and the traveller who told me about Kalldan says to hold the dearer patterns for a couple of months.
